II.1.4) Short description
Derry City and Strabane District Council invite suppliers to tender for PeacePlus Cecil Francis Alexander Celebrated. This project is an interfaith, inter-church, community education and tourism project. It will bring people of diverse Christian faith traditions (and wider to include those with no or other religion) together to research and celebrate the life of Cecil Frances Alexander with relevance to Strabane and the North-West area. The PEACEPLUS co-design process highlighted the opportunity to use her life as a topic of shared interest to build relationships, dialogue and awareness. Cecil Frances Alexander was a famous hymn writer (All Things Bright and Beautiful, There is a Green Hill Far Away etc.) who lived in Strabane. The project is a key faith-based project recruiting participants from Christian churches, other world faiths, history and community groups who might otherwise not mix across religious and cultural traditions. As it may prove of particular interest to older people, the project should inbuild accessibility for rural participants, the elderly, those with disabilities and other access requirements to maximise engagement. Whilst Cecil Frances Alexander’s life and works do also have welcome connections with other parts of the council area and beyond, it was the co-design process in the Strabane District Electoral Area (DEA) which showed specific interest in engagement. This project should therefore strive to bring key benefit to that area, using that area and the surrounding rural areas as it’s primary area for recruitment of participants in the first instance. Participants from elsewhere are however welcome to fill remaining places and/or bring cross-community balance. This project is under the Celebrating Cultures and Diversity Theme. Please refer to the CfT documents for further detail.
