Additional Information
The Development Bank of Wales is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Welsh Government. Launched in 2017, the Development Bank’s purpose is to mobilise economic development in the Welsh market. As a cornerstone of Welsh Government’s organisation for delivery of financial instruments, the Development Bank’s mission is to unlock potential in the economy of Wales by increasing the provision of sustainable, effective finance.
The Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) within the Equality Act 2010 requires public bodies to consider all individuals in shaping policy and delivering services. An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is considered good practice for any organization implementing a large programme.
Development Bank of Wales is therefore commissioning another with this expanded scope to ensure that the organisation can identify disproportionate impacts across a broad range of businesses and consumers throughout Wales. The EIA will also ensure that all services offered are compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and relevant legislation including the Rights of Children and Young Persons (Wales) Measure 2011 and UK legislation such as the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
The main output will be an Equality Impact Assessment report, combining both quantitative and qualitative analysis detailed withing the scope.
