Description of the goods or services required
Background:
The Countryside & Wildlife Team (C&W Team) of Neath Port Talbot Council (the Council) intend to undertake a project this year focusing on habitat management and restoration on local places for nature around the county, particularly Local Nature Reserves. The project
will involve bringing existing ecologically important sites across the county into active conservation management. The project is funded through the Local Places for Nature fund.
Project Overview:
The Countryside & Wildlife Team of Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking to appoint the services of a contractor to carry out site and habitat management works across 20 sites in Neath Port Talbot as part of the ‘Working with Nature’ regional project. The primary aim of
the project is to bring our existing ecologically important sites across NPT into sustainable, long-term habitat management that will enhance biodiversity in the county as well as meet local greenspace needs, support communities and their health, and build ecosystem
resilience.
The habitat management coordinator will be expected to take the lead in bringing a network of sites across NPT into active, conservation management. This role will also include an aspect of volunteer coordination to provide a network of maintenance for the sites in The
County.
Project Timescale:
Neath Port Talbot Council’s Countryside and Wildlife Team are inviting quotations for a suitable contractor to deliver the above project. The project is to be completed by them mid Feb 2024. This project is time sensitive due to the nature of grant funding.
Please contact Chloe Angelone, Biodiversity Officer, for full details and documentation at c.angelone@npt.gov.uk
Additional Information:
This project is funded through the Local Places for Nature fund. Please note that this funding is dependent on approval from the funder (Welsh Government), which we are currently awaiting.
