We aim to help everyone within the communities we serve to enjoy the benefits that energy can bring without reducing the ability of future generations to do the same.
Severn Wye Energy Agency was established originally in 1999 under the European Commission SAVE programme, and we're one of around 300 such European local and regional energy 'demand management' agencies.
Much of our work is carried out in rural areas where levels of fuel poverty are particularly high and where we aim to empower communities to develop their own energy solutions, as well as giving them the knowledge and resources they need to reduce their own energy bills.
We work with a wide range of clients and funders – from private businesses and government bodies, through to local community groups, charity organisations and schools. Severn Wye staff are as comfortable working with householders and schoolchildren making them aware of issues like sustainability and energy efficiency, as they are working with national or regional bodies to develop strategies to combat fuel poverty.
Our projects see us working in partnership with various local governments, health authorities, government agencies, regional bodies, the private sector, charities and voluntary agencies, as well as other energy agencies across Europe.
With its Welsh headquarters in Llandrindod Wells, Severn Wye employs 17 staff throughout Wales and a further 29 staff are employed in Highnam, Gloucs to cover the south west of England.
We have been successful with many tender applications through the Sell2Wales portal. Most recently, we have been accepted onto the Welsh Government’s Resource Efficiency Framework.
