The Energy Wales Unit is working alongside our Trade team to undertake an international trade mission to the above ocean energy conference in Brussels. Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) is one of the most important events on Europe’s ocean energy calendar. It offers you the chance to network, generate profile for your company and obtain access to the decision makers, thought leaders, investors and entrepreneurs who are most influential in the sector. The 2015 event in Dublin attracted around 400 delegates while over 50 organisations exhibited, representing a wide range of interests. Activities held during the event included: • The Ocean Energy Forum High Level Board met in the framework of the conference, with an EU Commissioner and 2 EU Energy Ministers attending, along with industry representatives of the highest level. • A wide range of side events took place around the conference, broadening the scope of the event and increasing the value of attending for delegates. • The conference programme featured senior political and industry figures. 2016 event: Locating the event in Brussels represents a strategic advantage for the sector. By bringing the event to the capital of the EU, OEE 2016 will showcase the industry as a whole in the eyes of the EU decision-makers, who are defining the future policy and funding landscape. Ocean Energy Europe 2016 will feature: • 400 attendees from industry, research and political institutions. • Excellent representation of EU institutions and Member State governments. • Close ties with the Ocean Energy Forum’s final meeting. • Over 50 exhibiting companies. • Side events for extended learning and networking opportunities. • A Gala Networking Dinner. We are also looking to organise a day of industry networking meetings and briefings prior to the event itself to maximise your attendance and to complement the activities that OEE will be offering during the 2 days of the conference. Indicative organisations that will be targeted include the EU Commission, European Investment Bank, specific Marine Energy and Renewable Energy groups within the EU plus R&D funding streams including Horizon 2020. The Welsh Government can also help your business to arrange meetings during the event either with like minded companies or potential customers via our export trade support programmes.
