Abstract

Cardiff Harbour Authority is the statutory Harbour Authority for Cardiff Council and is responsible for managing the Barrage, Outer Harbour and the Inland Bay including the rivers Taff and Ely up to the weirs of Blackweir and Wiggins Teape respectively. Cardiff Harbour Authority took over these responsibilities from Cardiff Bay Development Corporation on 1st April 2000. To fulfil its statutory functions as set out in the Cardiff Bay 1993 Barrage Act and various marine legislation, the Harbour Authority, under the Harbour Master team operate a small fleet of work vessels. These vary from a 15-meter landing craft to small dory’s each with a variety of functions ranging from aeration maintenance, debris clearance to patrol duties and marine enforcement. To be able to perform the above-mentioned duties Cardiff Harbour Authority requires the use of a Quayside Pillar Mounted Slewing Jib Crane. The current crane has the following specifications – Lifting capacity 6000kg. Jib length 6615 mm. Rotation 360 degrees. Hook height 5495 mm. Specification of New Quayside Pillar Mounted Slewing Jib Crane and Service Requirement.

- Lifting capacity 6300kgs

- Jib arm radius 6.6m

- Height under hook 6.5m

- slew 360 degrees

- Weatherproofed for outside use in a harsh marine environment.

- 3 x wireless controllers

- spare batteries

- two battery charging stations.

- Controllers will provide an accurate load weight via

calibrated load cell or equivalent.

- Removal of existing structure off site

- Following installation, the crane should be fully

commissioned, tested and a handover to the client with a full

familiarisation.

- Minimum 12-month warranty, comprehensive maintenance coverage

& full service/inspection before the end of the warranty

- Full dismantling & removal of existing crane as a minimum

requirement

- Part-exchange of the existing crane is preferred and offers

will be considered against the cost (as deductions) of the new

crane
