Abstract
This Scoping Study will explore and define the training, skills and innovation needs that Pembrokeshire will be facing leading up to 2050 linked to the Energy Transition. With several significant developments both in Pembrokeshire and further afield, key stakeholders are looking to explore what is required to empower the population to obtain well paid jobs, to support and enable these developments as part of the Energy Transition.
The Scoping Study will provide a detailed analysis of the skills and innovation that will be required leading to 2050, providing recommendations to maximise the employment opportunities for the region.
Pembrokeshire College are one of thirteen organisations across England, Wales and Scotland that have successfully been awarded the initial round of The Crown Estate’s innovative the Supply Chain Accelerator Fund (https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/our-business/marine/supply-chain-accelerator-fund). The purpose of the funding is to help kick-start projects drawing down from a fund established in May 2024 to accelerate and de-risk the early-stage development of UK supply chain projects that service the offshore wind sector. Projects receiving funding include those enabling floating wind platforms, anchoring and mooring systems, operations and maintenance facilities, test facilities, and those supporting the skills transition.
This Scoping Study is partly funded by the Supply Chain Accelerator fund, and supported by the Regional Learning Skills Partnership (South West Wales), Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire College.
