Total quantity or scope of tender
Works include but are not limited to:
Provision of an appropriate plant vehicle and *driver to remove material and load vehicle at site determined by the Vale of Glamorgan Council representative. Transport the material off site to a registered tip or recycling facility. It will be the responsibility of the Provider of these Services to ensure that all material removed is appropriately classified and disposed of or recycled and classification certificates, tipping / recycling tickets / receipts.
Removal and disposal of highway construction material and arisings on sites throughout the Vale of Glamorgan as requested to include but not limited to;
Materials as listed in ‘The Scope’, as referenced in the DMRB Volume 1 Specification for Highway Works – Series 600 Earthworks (Amendment February 2016) for Classification, Definitions and Uses of Earthworks Materials - Acceptable and Unacceptable material.
Hazardous / Contaminated materials will be disposed of by suitably qualified persons. In accordance with the Construction Waste and the Environment Act 2021, Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2011, the Hazardous Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2005 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The Council will provide traffic management, set out in accordance with Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works, A Code of Practice.
Pedestrian movements will be protected from the construction works at all times and shall include for the maintenance, cleaning, signing, guarding and lighting of the works in accordance with ‘The Safety at Streetworks and Roadworks’ Code of Practice.
Note that should material be removed from site out of normal working hours Monday to Thursday 0730hrs to 1500hrs, Friday 0730hrs and 1430hrs, then the Contractor will provide all appropriate Traffic Management in accordance with Chapter 8 to ensure safe removal of materials from the site.
The construction sites to be served are throughout the Vale of Glamorgan.
The Provider will attend site to remove and dispose of material on site within 24 hours of being notified by a Council Officer from the Construction & Development Section, either by telephone or E-mail. Should the first placed Provider be unable to meet with this programmed response then the second placed Provider will be contacted and so on.
* Criteria for the above person(s) as follows;
Drivers Must have the appropriate training, Licences in place and experience.
Have the appropriate Streetworks Card and CSCS Card.
The Contractor shall provide a list of the driver’s names. All new contracts will require a list to be provided showing the contractors personnel.

The Council is also interested in organisations with a track record in carrying out similar Works whilst observing economic and social regeneration.
