Abstract

Amgen Cymru provides a wide range of waste management services to the residents and businesses of Rhondda Cynon Taf and is the trading name of Cynon Valley Waste Disposal Company Ltd. It is the Local Authority Waste Disposal Company (LAWDaC), wholly owned by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. Amgen Cymru are located at Bryn Pica, Llwydcoed, Aberdare, RCT, CF44 0BX. www.amgen-cymru.com https://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/ Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC have invested significantly in its technology and waste management capabilities at the Bryn Pica facility in Aberdare. As such auto sort technologies are used within the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at the Bryn Pica site to primarily recover DMR wastes from Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC kerbside collections of around 32k tonnes per annum. The plant has further capacity to extend processing to external markets should commercial opportunities arise to a further 30k tonnes annually. Due to the nature of the current collection and recovery methods at Bryn Pica, with a portion of the waste recovered resulting in a mixed sub 50mm fraction of wastes requiring further sorting. Based on existing contract provision the wastes contain predominantly glass recovered through a mixture of screening and washing techniques depending on facility destination. The aims are to maximise the recovered glass content from the fines to meet end of waste criteria and facilitate a quarterly recycling claim. Due to limited markets and processing availability locally, Amgen Cymru are looking at innovative solutions which address this requirement. Are there other solutions or suppliers that are able to supply a complete waste solution for collection, processing, and recovery, to include all other waste fractions (residual wastes elements) with landfill avoidance where possible for approximately 8000 tonnes of sub 50mm glass fines under EWC (19 12 12). Please respond to this notice to Procurement@rctcbc.gov.uk by 12 noon Thursday 6 February 2025
