Abstract

In 2022 three successful school projects in the Sustainable Schools’ Challenge were announced. These projects involve building three new net zero carbon schools with design input from pupils. The designs were presented to Welsh Government (WG) and a judging panel, forming part of a gateway assessment on collaboration with pupils, staff, and the community. WG seeks a consultant to act as a 'critical friend' and mentor in sustainability and community collaboration during construction. A case study will document the innovation, collaboration, and involvement of pupils, staff, and the community, including workshops and regular meetings over the 18-month construction phase. The focus will be on community, staff, and pupil engagement in construction projects, linking to the Curriculum for Wales.
