Abstract

The RSPB at Lake Vyrnwy are looking to purchase a total of 8600 native trees, in two lots, to plant on our reserve to enhance tree cover on the reserve in line with our ‘Treescape plan’. Suppliers are invited to quote for either lot 1, lot 2, or both lot 1 & 2 and should specify which lots they are quoting for. Lot 1: 6500 trees consisting of roughly the following species and quantities (some flexibility possible): Rowan (10%) Downy birch (15%) Creeping willow (5%) Common hawthorn (10%) Eared willow (5%) Aspen (10%) Blackthorn (10%) Holly (5%) Sessile oak (5%) Alder (2%) Grey/goat willow (8%) Crab apple (10%) Hazel (5%) Lot 2: 2100 trees consisting of roughly the following species and quantities (some flexibility possible): Rowan (10%) Downy birch (10%) Common hawthorn (10%) Aspen (10%) Blackthorn (10%) Holly (5%) Sessile Oak (5%) Pendunculate oak (5%) Alder (2%) Grey/goat willow (8%) Crab apple (10%) Hazel (5%) Alder buckthorn (2%) Elder (3%) Silver birch (5%) Trees should be of 40cm bare root specification, as a minimum (larger/older trees where suitable will be considered, a mix of tree ages would be preferred but not essential) All trees should be grown from sources as local to the Lake Vyrnwy estate as possible. Trees from North Wales are ideal, however UK grown trees from other areas will be considered. Organic trees are preferred but not essential. Trees grown outside the UK are not suitable. Trees should be available for delivery at the start of November 2024. Description of the goods or services required

The RSPB at Lake Vyrnwy are looking to purchase a total of 8600 native trees, in two lots, to plant on our reserve to enhance tree cover on the reserve in line with our ‘Treescape plan’.

Suppliers are invited to quote for either lot 1, lot 2, or both lot 1 & 2 and should specify which lots they are quoting for.

Lot 1:

6500 trees consisting of roughly the following species and quantities (some flexibility possible):

Rowan (10%)

Downy birch (15%)

Creeping willow (5%)

Common hawthorn (10%)

Eared willow (5%)

Aspen (10%)

Blackthorn (10%)

Holly (5%)
