Abstract

Cardiff University require a machine translation software package that provides the following: • An online portal for our clients to submit their work requests that can be embedded into our intranet • A workflow management system for the Welsh Translation Unit and clients to be able to track progress of work requests (both internal and external) to ensure timely completion and delivery • Integrations with machine translation (MT) providers to aid with translation speeds • Machine learning, based on translation choices in the target language, provided by the MT AI • A customer memory bank of all previously translated materials (to speed up translation turnaround times) • Integration with our Squiz programme (to allow for seamless editing of web content) • Immediate analysis of word count to determine what is already in the memory bank and how many new words need to be translated • Immediate quote function to determine cost of translation, based on number of new words and external suppliers’ rates • A reporting and analysis function for data and performance monitoring
