Description of the goods or services required
Procurement for developing a shared understanding of community led activity around food, nutrition, physical activity and food growing in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Adopting a collaborative approach, between the Local Public Health Team (Cardiff and Vale UHB) Food Vale and the Vale of Glamorgan Council, we are commissioning a scoping piece of work, enabling us to secure the capacity needed to develop a shared understanding of community led activity across the Vale of Glamorgan relating to food, nutrition, physical activity and food growing. This project would form part of our work across the region to progress our whole systems approach to healthy weight, through Move More, Eat Well (MMEW), with community engagement as an essential component of this work.
The project aims to build a collective understanding of:
• The type of community led activities ongoing in the Vale of Glamorgan (considering location and audience)
• The current impact and sustainability of community led activities (including those led by schools)
• The perceived factors of success and challenges for community groups in delivering their activities
• What partner organisations from across the Vale of Glamorgan are already connected to community led activities and how they are engaged
• The existing connections between community led activities
• The existing connections between the partners that are supporting community led activities
• Potential gaps relating to; type of activity, location of activities, connections between community groups and connections with partner organisations
Current collaborative approaches have highlighted the great work already being undertaken by community led groups to support and enable people to be more active and have a healthier diet. Recognising and identifying local assets and engaging with communities will help build on their strengths.
