Abstract

Awen Cultural Trust is seeking tenders from experienced, professional theatre companies to produce and present a high quality, family pantomime at The Met Theatre, Abertillery and/or Maesteg Town Hall, Bridgend in South Wales. The contract is being offered for an initial period of one year with the option of extending for a further two years. The first performances required will be for the 2025-2026 festive season. Awen is committed to equality, diversity, inclusion, sustainability and the Welsh language. Increasing access to the pantomime experience, in addition to developing audience numbers, increasing financial yield and maintaining customer satisfaction levels will be important considerations.

Tucked away in the heart of the town centre, The Met is a hidden gem of cultural opportunities, bringing a vibrant mix of live music, cinema, family entertainment, theatre and more.

An accessible space, with a diverse programme of events, it offers a programme of free live music, to lunchtime theatre, stand-up comedy, rock and blues, family-friendly fun and an eclectic cinema programme.

Always with a warm welcome, The Met takes pride in bringing enriching arts and creative experience to its community. The annual pantomime for schools and public is a highlight of the artistic calendar.

Maesteg Town Hall, Bridgend

Capacity: 500 seated

Maesteg Town Hall stands proudly in the heart of the Llynfi Valley, bringing a blend of theatre, performance, live music, comedy, cinema and more.

A major £10m redevelopment has restored the Town Hall to its former glory, retaining its rich heritage and offering modern facilities including a glass atrium, studio theatre and cinema space together with a modern library, local history and heritage centre and cafe.

This new space houses a dynamic programme of arts, cultural and community events for all ages in the town and surrounding valleys. Maesteg Town Hall re-opens its doors to the community at the end of November 2024.
