Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay – Powerhouse numerical and physical hydrodynamic modelling

Description of the goods or services required
Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay Plc wishes to engage the services of an experienced hydraulic modeller experienced in the application of numerical computational fluid dynamic (CFD) assessment and physical hydraulic modelling of hydropower schemes. The work will involve undertaking CFD hydrodynamic modelling and physical hydraulic modelling, and reporting, of various aspects of the proposed designs for the Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay proposed powerhouse and sluice gate structures.

Information to be submitted by interested parties:
1. Details of track record of undertaking numerical computational fluid dynamic (CFD) assessment and physical hydraulic modelling for any project.
2. Details of track record of undertaking numerical computational fluid dynamic (CFD) assessment and physical hydraulic modelling for hydropower projects or hydropower schemes.
3. Details of skills, capability and experience of undertaking numerical computational fluid dynamic (CFD) assessment and physical hydraulic modelling – project details, dates, client name, summary CV’s of personnel involved to be provided.
4. Commentary from your organisation regarding the availability to undertake the scope of work for Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay PLC from October 2016 to May 2017 – is this possible given your organisation’s existing commitments?
5. General details about the physical space capacity in your organisation’s hydraulic laboratory to construct and perform physical hydraulic modelling – dimensions of each available hydraulic modelling test bay that is available from October 2016 to May 2017.

Selection Process, Next Steps and Tender Process:
Based on the information submitted, Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay will select parties who will be provided with tender documents for this work. Tender documents will be issued to selected parties in October. Parties selected to be issued with tender documents will be notified in early October. For those parties issued with tender documents, the tender documents will consist of more details on the hydrodynamic modelling scope of work, required deliverables, required programme, and information to be provided by Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay that will assist the selected party undertaking the work.
Submission Format and Submission Date:
Electronic submissions are requested by Friday 30 September 2016. Email electronic submissions are requested in pdf form; a maximum number of 40 pages, A4 size, is permitted.
