II.1) Scope of the procurement

M4 Corridor around Newport (CaN) Docks Enabling Works.

II.1.4) Short description
Welsh Ministers (WM) propose to re-route a section of the M4 motorway to the south of Newport under the “M4 Corridor around Newport (CaN) Project”. The public inquiry stage for the scheme has now been completed and a decision on whether to proceed to detailed design and construction is anticipated shortly.
A section of the proposed route passes through the Port of Newport. In order to accommodate the new motorway corridor, some of the port’s existing marine operations and port’s tenants would need to be relocated to new facilities within the port. The works, which include detailed design and construction of port buildings, civil infrastructure, dredging and marine structures, would be carried out under a contract entitled M4 CaN Docks Enabling Works (“Project”) in advance of and separate to the main motorway works.
