RCS is building on the success and lessons from the European-funded In-Work Support Service 2015-2022, the Welsh Government is expanding a successor In-work Support Service (IWS) across Wales.
The IWSS will provide support and therapies to help employed and self-employed people return to work from absence or improve their health and wellbeing at work. The service will run from April 2023-March 2025, with potential for a further two-year extension.
The primary aims of the service are to:-
• Prevent job loss due to work-limiting health conditions by providing rapid access to early, work-focussed interventions that help people on sickness absence to return to work sooner than they otherwise would, and to help presentees to remain in work; and
• Provide support to employees in Wales predominantly from Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) who generally lack access to occupational health (OH) services.
• Support SME managers and employees to help improve workplace health and wellbeing.
RCS will be delivering IWS in the following areas:
• North Wales
• Dyfed
• Swansea Bay
RCS is creating a framework / list of specialist providers to deliver a range of work-focussed, evidence-based psychological and physical therapies, aimed at helping clients return to work from absence or improve their health and wellbeing at work. Therapeutic interventions are intended to be short and focussed, usually consisting of a maximum of six sessions.
Physical therapies will include:
• Physiotherapy
• Osteopathy
• Sports Massage
• Chiropody
• Chiropractic
• Podiatry
• Dietetics
Psychological therapies will include
• Counselling (across a range of modalities)
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
• Psychotherapy
• Clinical Psychology
Other therapeutic support will include
• Occupational therapy
• Coaching
