Newport City Council’s (NCC) Docks Way Waste Disposal Site is located at postcode NP20 2NS / what3words ///people.grin.marked. The site covers a substantial area, bordering the Southern Distributor Road to north, the River Ebbw to the West and Newport Docks to the East and South.
Newport City Council’s waste operations are run from the site; household waste recycling centre and reuse shop, weighbridge, transfer station and landfill to include plant machinery and vehicles. Additionally at the site are offices, refuse collection vehicles, staff visitor car park and greenhouses / polytunnels.
NCC is due to tender for security services for the Docks Way site and invites companies to offer indicative security service solutions. The Contract is for seven days a week outside of site operational hours i.e. 5.30pm – 7am and is to include for all Bank Holidays, Christmas and New Year Periods.
To date, there is provision of a manned guard that completes routine proactive surveillance. A separate cctv system operates on site. NCC is open to provision of alternative, innovative security system options that provide best value for money, and maintain a vigilant, visible, active and reactive presence that shall prevent and deter criminal activity at the site whilst providing reassurance to any legitimate users of the site.
This speculative notice invites security companies to provide for security services with a view to a meeting on site at Docks Way to discuss. Meetings and information will form the basis of a tender for services.
