Description of the goods or services required
Criminal & Civil Litigation Framework
Natural Resources Wales’ legal department has 18 staff and is organised across 6 work packages all or any of which include enforcement.
Natural Resources Wales requires external professional support for this work in providing criminal and civil litigation services.
We estimate that the external support services, to be provided, may amount to about 250 hours, although no guarantees can be given or shall be implied.
The services to be provided will include:
• To receive and consider instructions and files from our legal staff.
• To prepare for court hearings, identifying any areas of concern and suggesting alternatives to charges or alternative courses of action if appropriate.
• Dealing with all necessary correspondence and communications with the defendants and their representatives, legal or otherwise.
• Attending Magistrates Courts and, if appropriate, Crown Court, hearings as NRWs representative.
• Undertake case conference and liaise with NRW officers on all contested cases and uncontested cases when requested.
• If requested, administrative support including, for example, photocopying bundles.
We have divided the framework into three lots (North (covering both North-East and North-West), South-East and South-West). Tenderers may bid for any or all lots. The number of suppliers to be awarded in the contract is two for each lot.
The duration of the framework will be three years, commencing on the 21st September 2020 and expiring on the 20th September 2023.
