Introduction:

On the instructions of Keolis Amey Operations Limited trading as Transport for Wales Rail Services (TfWRS), AmeyTPT is tendering the vending opportunities on the TfWRS railway estate to be let by way of three multi-station Licences.

TfWRS took over the operation of station and rail services on the Wales & Borders rail franchise from Arriva Trains Wales in October 2018.

The TfWRS’ network covers the length and breadth of Wales as well as the English borders. The stations range from large hubs such as Cardiff Central and Chester, to busy commuter stations particularly in the Cardiff valleys and more rural stations in the north and west of the network.

Opportunities being tendered:

There are three opportunities being tendered reflecting the wide geographical reach of the estate. Tender applicants may submit an offer for all the opportunities, a combination or individually.

• North: From Shrewsbury to Pwlhelli and Holyhead in the West and to Chester in the North.

This will include stations such as Shrewsbury, Chester, Wrexham General, Llandudno Junction, Aberystwyth, Holyhead and the stations along the north Wales coast.

• South: From Cardiff Central to Shrewsbury and Chepstow in the East and to Pembroke, Haverfordwest and Maesteg in the West.

This will include stations such as Cardiff Central, Newport, Swansea, Hereford, Ludlow, Carmarthen, Neath, Port Talbot Parkway and Llanelli (but not Shrewsbury).

• Cardiff Valley Lines (CVL): From Cardiff Central to Treherbert, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Coryton and Rhymney in the North

This will include stations such as Cardiff Queen Street, Cardiff Bay, Pontypridd, Trefforest and Merthyr Tydfil (but not Cardiff Central).
