II.2.4) Description of the procurement
This is a procurement for Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE). RPE sets are used on prison wings to provide breathable oxygen for prison officers to enable them to deal with cell fires and rescue prisoners from them. Their use is mandated under a Fire Safety “Safe System of Work”, to enable officers to protect their own health and safety and that of the affected prisoners under the duty of care that we provide to them. We require a supply and maintenance contract that will service all prisons in England and Wales.
