Abstract

The Council wants to work towards ending homelessness in Bradford. We understand this is a complex issue to solve and we need to work collectively to achieve this aim. This contract will be part of that whole system approach. We will be focussing on understanding the complexities, working in partnership with the people we support, and taking a strength-based approach so that the people we support can achieve real change in their lives.

Objectives for the Homelessness Day Shelter service

1 The Council has identified the following objectives which will underpin the Service:

• individuals who are homeless or in immediate risk of becoming homeless will have access to an ‘independent’, safe and supportive daytime facility where their immediate housing and health and wellbeing needs can be assessed and appropriate action is taken to start to address these

• the support provided will be short-term and based on assessed needs. Individuals will have time-bound goals and supported to achieve their desired outcomes.

• the support provided will complement and not duplicate other Council funded Housing Related Support and Health and Wellbeing services

• the support provided will be impartial, non-judgemental, flexible and person-centered and will promote and support recovery

2 Specifically, the Service will ensure that:

• where necessary, Service Users will be supported to access support that addresses their immediate emergency accommodation needs

• where necessary, Service Users will be provided with support that addresses their immediate health and wellbeing needs or provides access to support that addresses their immediate health and wellbeing needs
