Abstract

Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust seeks applications for the role of Project Management for the delivery of its National Heritage Memorial Fund Project - Castle Core Emergency Works. Role Purpose - The Project Manager, on behalf of the Trust, will coordinate and oversee the management of all aspects of the capital project through to completion. This will include but is not exclusive to the following: - Assist the Trust in the tender, recruitment and contract process for key members of the project team - the Principal Designer / Design Team, Principal Contractor and linked roles such as the Governance position; - Create the relevant project documentation - Project Initiation Document and Project Plan using a suitable industry recognised methodology; - Manage the project fund of 2.4 million (including match funding), working with the Trust Administrator to draw down funds from NMHF, map & monitor spending, producing financial reports to the project team, board and funders; - Operate a project management software such as Microsoft Project or equivalent; - Coordinate the Project Team meetings; - Monitor the project against the plan stages, gates, outputs and milestones to ensure the project runs to budget, time and regulatory constraints; - Work with the project members to ensure regulatory compliance or industry guidance is followed - eg CDM under H&S legislation, planning legislation or that RIBA plan of work is followed; - Monitor the principal contractor and sub-contractors against the agreed work packages, quality and H&S practices; - Ensure compliance with with the NHMF requirements for the project cycle; - Install risk mitigation and contingencies, recording and reporting any issues to the Project Board; - Create routine / highlight reports for the Project Board / NHMF; - Work with internal stakeholders for example Estate Management to coordinate the construction works with the site continuing to operate as a visitor attraction as required or directed; - Work with external stakeholders such as the regulator (LA & NRW), public and neighbouring businesses as required or directed; - On completion of the project complete the relevant evaluation and completion reports.

Description of the goods or services required

Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust seeks applications for the role of Project Management for the delivery of its National Heritage Memorial Fund Project - Castle Core Emergency Works.

Total quantity or scope of tender

It is intended that the role will be part time, 3 days a week pro rata against a full time equivalent

salary/fee of c£50,000 pa.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

- Essentials for the role will be:

1. Project Management Qualification(s) or equivalent;

2. Experience of managing major or complex projects using industry standard methodologies and supporting

software;

3. Experience in creating tender documents, recruitment, procurement of services and the management of

contracts;

4. Experience of managing projects with budgets similar to the Core Restoration, the associated control and

reporting;

5. Experience of RIBA plan of work, CDM Regulations, planning and other related guidance and legislation;

6. Experience of working with, coordinating and managing multi disciplinary teams;

7. Proven Track record of delivering projects to the scope, times and budgets set;

8. Experience of project risk management, mitigation and contingency planning;

9. Proven ability to support, communicate with and report to internal and external stakeholders, regulators and

contractors;

10. Ability to work flexibly using initiative within stated guidelines, manage own workload and prioritise

effectively in order to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities;

11. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate the project team;

- Desirable for the role:

A. Qualifications or a degree in a related subject;

B. Project Management experience of heritage related construction, restoration projects;

C. Previous experience of working on National Lottery Heritage or Memorial Fund projects;

D. Operational experience of managing projects in a related field;

E. Experience of the management of projects on a similar community/visitor experience site;

F. Environmental, Health & Safety qualifications;

G. The ability to work and communicate in Welsh;

H. Knowledge of the heritage context of Wales in general.
