Description of the goods or services required
The objective of this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to assess the interest within the market to complete an independent review of the Cancer Network Information System Cymru (CaNISC) currently used across NHS Wales.
CaNISC is used for patient treatment records, it is the patient administration system for Velindre Cancer Centre, and is the primary source of cancer data for waiting times, clinical audit and cancer registration.
CaNISC is a legacy application which has been in use in excess of 20 years. The CaNISC application is end of life, as is the software and hardware used to provide it. The Cancer Informatics Programme is decommissioning access to CaNISC and creating a new Cancer Informatics Solution (CIS) integrating with existing components of the NHS Wales National Architecture such as Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP), Welsh Patient Administration System (WPAS), Welsh Care Records Repository, Welsh Results & Results Repository to create the single patient record inclusive of Cancer information.
Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) require the completion of an independent review of the CaNISC solution delivered to date, including the architectural design and suitability of the end state of the overall solution. The review is expected to take a maximum of 15 days, on completion a fully detailed outcome and recommendation report is to be presented & provided to DHCW.
DHCW intend to complete a tender exercise for this requirement, which will be advertised on an open basis via Sell2Wales, it is currently anticipated the tender exercise will commence in quarter 3 2024 (Sept – Dec).
