Abstract
The Tywi Gateway Trust is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced company to create and deliver bi-lingual digital interpretation for the Tywi Gateway Project at The Bishop’s Park, Abergwili, Carmarthenshire. This will form one element of a wider interpretation scheme being delivered across the site. This work will produce a mobile web enabled website accessible on visitor’s own devices throughout the park and to visitors off-site.
The Tywi Gateway Project is conserving, restoring and re-invigorating the nationally important Bishop’s Park and Old Bishop’s Palace outbuildings, working with the local community and project collaborators Carmarthenshire County Council and the Representative Body of the Church in Wales to create an education and interpretation centre and café, providing opportunities for sustainable income streams to support the long-term management and maintenance of the site.
Once a Bishop’s Palace with a private pleasure garden, now a public park with a museum at its heart. The Tywi Gateway Project is multi-faceted and will celebrate the historic site of the Bishop of St Davids gardens, outbuildings and Lodge, by reviving and respecting its past and giving new life to those elements that have survived. We want this to be a ‘Park for All’ where visitors of all ages and abilities may explore the gardens, enjoy Tywi Valley vistas, learn about wildlife and the natural landscape, as well as horticulture – and participate in ensuring its sustainable future.
The project is supported by a grant from National Lottery Heritage Fund.
