Abstract
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council are seeking to appoint a multi-disciplinary team for Project Management/Project Lead/Construction Lead; Cost Management, Client Advisor and Contract Administrator for the delivery of a Tenting Scheme at Cyfarthfa Castle, Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil.
Cyfarthfa Castle is a Grade I listed building sited on the north-western end of Merthyr Tydfil and is situated in Cyfarthfa Park. Cyfarthfa Park is a Grade II* registered landscape comprising of 160 acres of mixed parkland.
A recent condition survey in 2022 has identified that the Castle is in a significant state of disrepair and is suffering from water ingress and is damp. This is causing breakdown of the building structure, in particular concrete floor slabs becoming structurally compromised particularly to the north-eastern elevation. There is also evidence of timber rot to panelling, roof trusses and window along with corrosion in the steel beams to the filler joist floors.
