Description of the contract
Delivery of the specified tree species
In July 2019, the Council passed a motion to declare a Climate Change and Ecological Emergency and in February 2021 approved its strategy committing the Council to become Net Carbon Zero and more Ecologically Positive Council by 2030.
The creation of these 4 woodlands will contribute to those goals to increase carbon sequestration and species richness of our habitats by creating mixed broadleaf woodland, which is one of the top 3 species rich habitats.
Denbighshire County Council (the “Council”), a Unitary County Council in North Wales, invites quotes for the supply of trees for our 4 woodland creation schemes across the county.
The aim of the 4 schemes is to increase the tree canopy cover of each of these sites to at least 20%. The 4 sites and the m2 canopy cover required at each site (including hedgerow creation) is as follows:
• Llanrhydd Street in Ruthin – 1200m2
• Cae Ddol in Ruthin – 3500m2
• Maes Esgob – 600m2
• Maes Gwilym in Rhyl – 5000m2
Construction of specified footpaths
Denbighshire County Council (the “Council”), a Unitary County Council in North Wales, invites quotes for the construction of specified footpaths at 2 the woodland creation sites in Rhyl and Ruthin
The aim of the project is to create community accessible woodlands helped by the creation of footpaths at Maes Gwilym in Rhyl and Llanrhydd Street in Ruthin contributing to improved site access to enable the communities to enjoy the newly created nature space.
The footpaths should be delivered in as environmentally friendly way as possible using recycled and natural materials where possible.
