Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
Fire extinguishers. The authority is looking to replace current hand held fire extinguishers (HHFE) used in the crew compartments of Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFV). Current HHFE's use Halon 1211 gas (BCF) as the suppressant, however following the signing of the Montreal Protocol, the use and manufacture of Halon 1211 in the UK has been banned. The MOD needs to replace all of its 1.4 Kg BCF HHFE's with a suitable alternative, which meets an MOD determined output/performance specification.
