Abstract

The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales is commissioning research to examine older men’s experiences of domestic abuse and the barriers that may prevent them from seeking help and support (definitions of ‘domestic abuse’ are set out in Annex B) within Wales The aims of the research are to: • Better understand the experiences of older men who have experienced domestic abuse, as well as those at risk • Identify barriers and challenges faced by older men that may prevent them from disclosing domestic abuse and accessing support services • Examine the provision of support services within Wales, available to older men who are experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse, and the extent to which older men are accessing these services

The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales is commissioning research to examine older men’s experiences of domestic abuse and the barriers that may prevent them from seeking help and support (definitions of ‘domestic abuse’ are set out in Annex B) within Wales

The aims of the research are to:

• Better understand the experiences of older men who have experienced domestic abuse, as well as those at risk

• Identify barriers and challenges faced by older men that may prevent them from disclosing domestic abuse and accessing support services
