Abstract

The University is appointing a provider for the Cardiff Met Student Recruitment Campaign 2023-2025. The University’s academic portfolio is oriented towards practice-focused and professionally recognised education and research. Our taught programmes align with the University’s research and innovation agenda and deliver impact in a wide range of areas across art, design and environment, business and management, education and social policy, sport and health sciences and digital and data sciences, computing, robotics and engineering technologies. We trace our history back to 1865, when the School of Art first opened in the Old Free Library in Cardiff. Our vision emboldens this commitment to education, research and innovation undertaken in partnership with our students, governments, business and industry and with tangible benefits for individuals, society and the economy. We are committed to ensuring that every student fulfils their potential to make outstanding graduate-level contributions to their own and future generations. The University is a values-driven university with students’ careers and employability at the forefront of its teaching. Our degree programmes equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to positively engage with the challenges of a complex, changing world. The Cardiff Met EDGE embeds Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial skills in the curriculum, building students’ experience, knowledge, confidence and resilience, and their subject specialist knowledge. With academics engaged in the industry and research, our programmes are oriented toward practice-focused and professionally recognised education, ensuring high impact by meeting industry needs and influencing governmental bodies, organisations, and networks across our subjects. The University has over 12,000 students based on two campuses in Cardiff and over 10,000 trans-national education students studying Cardiff Met degrees at partner institutions in 15 countries around the world. Students come from over 140 countries and 20% of our Cardiff-based students are international. In an increasingly competitive higher education environment, we need to maintain our point of difference while reaching a broader audience. We have a strong reputation in our art and design, sport, health, and education specialisms, and want to maintain this while building our profile in finance and management and our new subject area engineering and technologies. We therefore want to start speaking to people who might not know about Cardiff Met and what we stand for. We have set ambitious objectives to grow high quality applications and ensure they convert to enrolment for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. With many universities in the Cardiff vicinity with similar portfolio it can be hard sometimes for students to navigate, however with our unique student experience and real-world application academic offering, we have a positive story to tell about the extra experiences, career and employment opportunities, location and our values driven outlook that studying at Cardiff Met affords. We are keen for a campaign that responds to the fierce higher education marketplace and student number targets, reaches out to students who might not be aware of us or the quality of our academic offering, and articulates our core proposition creatively. We therefore require an agency to: i. Develop the creative concept and associated look and feel for our 2023 -2025 entry recruitment campaign ii. Design the 2023 selected digital and print assets and 2024 entry undergraduate prospectus
