Abstract

We are looking to appoint a company to look at income generation options for Wales Slate. Commission tasks: 1. Prepare a report through Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig funding to identify income generation possibilities based on slate heritage, and assess the feasibility of the ideas in order to identify which idea (s) are most likely to succeed in the long term, whilst also providing proposed costs for for establishing and implementing such schemes. 2. Use examples and best practice in other areas e.g. Various World Heritage Sites such as Cornwall, Pontcysyllte, the Lake District to stimulate ideas. A list of British World Heritage Sites is available here https://worldheritageuk.org/about/ourworldheritagesites/ . 3. In addition to identifying new ideas, it will also be necessary to discuss and consider with the Wales Slate Team income generation options that have already been presented to the team eg Visitor Giving, Guided Tours, Partnering with a local 'Brand', Promotional merchandise. 4. Identify a realistic timescale for piloting the favoured idea(s), and a potential trial area 7. Consider how an income of up to £50,000 per annum could be generated with a view to contributing to the Wales Slate Co-ordinator post and related activities (eg conservation, marketing, training, engagement, events) 8.
