Additional Information
TrawsCymru® Network.
The TrawsCymru® network provides services on key strategic routes across Wales and is shown in Appendix One. There are approximately 50 vehicles on the network, and in financial year 2019-20 the network carried 2.5 million passengers. We aim to generate at least 100,000 ticket sales using the App by the end of March 2021 across the network.
Required Functionality.
The App is required to feature the TrawsCymru® branding and provide the following functions:-
• Welcome Page;
• Network Guide page featuring a map showing the network of services;
• Journey Planner page linked to the Traveline Cymru Journey Planner;
• Ticket Purchase Page for each service featuring up to 10 different ticket types per service;
• Track my bus page using SIRI feed from vehicles this will also show how busy each service is.
Timescales.
Phase I
For Phase I of the roll out we would work with the developer to select 3 services for initial roll out and upload the App by the end of July 2020. We would then monitor use of the map and carry out passenger research until the end of December 2020.
Phase II
Following a successful deployment of the App in Phase I we would then extend the App to cover the remaining services in January 2021.
Bilingual Requirements
The desktop version and App is required to be in Welsh and English. Welsh Government will arrange for suitable translations to be provided.
Payment Platform
App developers should state in their bids which payment platform they intend to use along with payment transaction costs / commission for ticket sales.
Bids should also set out operator re imbursement arrangements. Several operators provide services for TrawsCymru® and these operators retain the ticket revenue for each service. Therefore any revenue generated from ticket sales through the App should be reimbursed to operators at the end of each settlement period.
Technical Support
The chosen software developer is required to provide technical support for the desktop version and App, and this level of support including response times should be clearly described in the bid.
Previous Experience
Bids should clearly set out what previous recent experience companies have at developing and supporting desktop booking systems and App’s for coach and bus travel companies. We will be placing a heavy weighting on the assessment of bids on this criteria.
Project Management
During the course of the project the chosen developer will be required to provide a regular weekly update on progress with the project.
Costings
Bidder are asked to submit an inclusive cost for developing the App and providing the required functionality for Phase I which will launch at the end of July and run until the end of December 2020. Phase II will commence for a period of 3 months and will run from January 2021 to the end of March 2021.
