Title
A tourism strategy to promote Rhayader, attracting visitors and keeping them here longer

Description of the goods or services required
We've been welcoming visitors to Rhayader with open arms for years. We're proud of and grateful for the area's natural beauty and our honest, authentic way of life. This is the same life our visitors become part of, there is no us and them. Since visitors first found Rhayader, our community has worked hard to convey what makes a journey to the middle of Mid Wales worth it. Slogans, strap-lines, leaflets, website and signs aplenty, we get the feeling our passion and desire to share the unique Rhayader experience has been shy of the mark. We'd like to now crack this and convey as close as possible, the real reasons why visitors and our community know this is a special place to spend their time and their lives, whether it be an hour or a lifetime. Please help us to articulate the reasons for finding Rhayader and becoming part of the family. We're raring to have our belief in Rhayader brought to life in word, action, delivered by the whole town and taken across the globe by our visitors - our newest family members. Aligning it to Visit Wales strategies.

Total quantity or scope of tender
This is a one-off project role to be completed by end-September. Our ball-park figure for producing the strategy and delivery plan is £2000. You will work with a Steering Group, drawn from the R2K Board, who will be in a position to authorise additional spending on delivery.
Working with Rhayader Town Council, Rhayader 2000 wants to commission a marketing strategy and delivery plan to promote the town and surrounding area as a tourist destination as Wales emerges from lockdown and the hospitality and accommodation sectors reopen. The strategy would also look forward to next year and provide a sustainable platform for the future. We want to attract people here and keep them here for longer.
Rhayader is a small town at a major crossroads in mid-Wales with easy access to the reservoirs of the Elan Valley, the wild Cambrian mountains, and the coast. It is a hub for walking and cycling and attracts a wide range of visitors to its tourist accommodation – mainly self-catering, B and B, and camping and caravanning. The town itself has many cafes, an unfeasible number of pubs and many independent shops.
Rhayader 2000 is a non-profit company working with Rhayader Town Council to promote and develop tourism in Rhayader and the surrounding area. We are funded through subscriptions from advertisers on the website and, this year at least, by a Council
We are looking for experience of working in or with the tourist sector. Ideally, you will already know the area but, if not, you will need to show that you can work closely with local suppliers for delivery. You will have a good grasp of how social media and other means can be used to promote our area. You will also have a track record in similar projects or other relevant activities. You will be able
to work easily in collaboration with others, most of whom will be volunteers.
We want to be aligned with Visit Wales and engaged with them throughout the process.
