The service will aim to help offer a stable, consistent environment, so that the young people can be encouraged to build their independent skills. This will enable them to reflect and make appropriate choices for their future, enabling them to live independently and successfully within the community.

The support offering will be person centred, outcome focused, trauma informed and will aim to build the young people’s skills to support successful transitions into independent living. This will be provided via a dedicated supported lodging pathway with wrap-around trauma informed support.

Support will be designed and delivered to support the young people to build resilience, promote independence, develop or sustain their capacity to live in their own accommodation and achieve increasing levels of independence.

The aim is not to just provide a young person with a home but to ensure they have a healthy transition into adulthood. This will be underpinned by a suitably trained and competent staff team who will deliver trauma informed support which will include structured diversionary and engagement activities.

The service will support a maximum of five (5) young people at any one time, who will be aged sixteen (16) to twenty-four (24) and who have varying support needs, some of which will be complex. The Commissioner aims for each young person to step down to other suitable accommodation by the age of eighteen (18) when safe and appropriate to do so.
