Tackling the obesity rates in Northamptonshire and providing weight management support is a key element of Northamptonshire Public Health’s efforts to improve health and wellbeing in the adult population as cited in the 2020 Northampton Health, care and wellbeing plan.
The provider shall provide a digital weight management service that will be available as part of the Tier 2 weight management service in Northamptonshire. This service will provide a minimum of 12 weeks of digital evidence-based support for people to reduce and continue to manage their weight. This must include some form of coaching support alongside the digital intervention.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The programme should include, but is not limited to:
• evidence-based advice, information and support to manage weight and maintain a healthy weight;
• evidence-based advice and information on safe and appropriate levels of physical activity;
• evidence-based advice and information on healthy eating, including food buying, storing and preparation, and this is culturally appropriate to a diversity of groups.
Nationally, weight management services are offered at 4 levels:
Tier 1: services a broad spectrum of population based interventions which are universally available to all adults living or working within the locality, walking for health, cycling highways and the National Change4Life programme;
Tier 2: services covers lifestyles interventions;
Tier 3: services are clinically based specialist multidisciplinary services;
Tier 4: services are surgical interventions which are available to adults meeting the necessary eligibility criteria
The provider(s) shall deliver a Tier 2 service and establish links with other services across the tiers.
