II.1.4) Short description
Within Hertfordshire and West Essex currently, the diagnosis of asthma is made mostly in primary care with GP surgeries utilising peak flow diaries and spirometry in most cases. These tools are now deemed to be insufficient and inaccurate, and they do not include the newest, more specific methods of arriving at diagnosis such as FeNO measurements.
The data within Hertfordshire and West Essex confirms that there is a significant gap between our expected and estimated asthma prevalence with more than 30% of the population being underdiagnosed.
As such, the ICB would like to procure FeNO machines for use across the ICB Primary Care Networks. As well as the provision of machines, the ICB are procuring all related consumables. The successful Bidder will also be required to provide an online reporting tool / dashboard for the device which is available for clinicians in addition to the provision of training for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
