ITT provision of design and build of a ventilation system for new lairage

Description of the goods or services required

ITT for the provision of design and build of a ventilation system for the new lairage at Capestone Organic Poultry Ltd.

Due to expansion of the facility in particular new lairage and gas stunning hall, there is a requirement for this hall to encompass ventilation and cooling to ensure the welfare of the poultry prior to processing.

This ITT should be read in conjuction with the following documents

RSPCA - Welfare standards for chickens

MAFF - Guide to alleviation of thermal stress in poultry in lairage

DEFRA - Heat stress in poultry. Solving the problem

"The welfare of animals at the time of killing (England) regulations 2015"

"Council regulation (EC) 1099/2009 on the protection of animals at the time of killing"

The initial requirement is for ensuring the temperature within the hall does not exceed 17 degrees C.

The specification is to be in 2 parts and pricing should be indicated as follows

1. Carry out design of ventilation/cooling sustem for new lairage

2. Installation of equipment/commissioning of system.

Total quantity or scope of tender

During peak production there will be approximately 104 modules, 16 birds/module totalling 22464 birds.

There will also be diesel operated vehicles (forklifts and telehandlers) in operation during the processing of poultry and the extraction of their fumes shall be considered within the design.

The design shall ensure that it has a spare capacity of 25% for future growth.
