Description of the goods or services required
Marie Curie is seeking to appoint an organization to undertake an evaluation of the Wales Bereavement Information & Support Service.
The Wales Bereavement Information and Support Service (WBISS) is delivered in partnership between Marie Curie and Diverse Cymru.
The overall purpose of the service is to improve equity of access in bereavement support across Wales. The project aims to work with and support people across different communities and ensure that the needs of people with protected characteristics are met. The project will connect with traditionally under-represented communities, including those who find bereavement services hard to access. These include minority ethnic communities, Welsh language speakers, asylum seekers, and refugees.
The service is eligible to any adult in Wales affected by bereavement due to the death of someone with a terminal illness.
Each element of the service is being delivered to meet the three components of bereavement support described by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). The components are described below:
1. Information and signposting towards further support offered regarding the experience of bereavement
2. Provision of access to formal opportunities to reflect upon grief, which may involve individual or group sessions
3. Specialist interventions that may involve mental health services, psychological and counselling support
