Abstract

Marine Power Systems’ (MPS) mission is to become a world leader in the manufacturing and supply of marine energy extraction hardware by having the highest performance and most cost-effective technology available in the market. MPS will demonstrate its sector leading wave energy converter (WEC) and floating offshore energy platform system at the grid connected BiMEP test site in northern Spain. The Megawatt Scale (MWS) Demonstrator project will begin operation in early 2023. The project has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and significant private investment has been received to support the project. MPS has already awarded major contracts to deliver the MWS Demonstrator project, including agreements with PRINCIPIA, Bourbon Subsea Services, Black & Veatch as well as specialist companies in the sector. More information can be found at https://www.marinepowersystems.co.uk/our-blog/. Anchor installation work can begin in July 2022 at BiMEP and must be completed by March 2023 to meet the main installation schedule. The anchors will provide the station keeping for MPS’ floating offshore energy platform system to demonstrate its WEC hardware and wind turbine generator integration capability. MPS requires a highly experienced contractor to complete the installation of anchors at the test site.
