Description of the contract
Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) is committed to regional integrated approaches that deliver better, more sustainable outcomes for people, families and children. Local Authorities (LAs), including Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend, with some input from partners, have been developing evidence-based services that safely support families to stay together and prevent avoidable child-parent separation.
There remains a need to scope out provision and design a robust integrated response to parental wellbeing in situations where child-parent separation is a possible or realised outcome, to prevent children becoming looked after. This piece of work focuses specifically on the needs of adults as parents and those services that are provided to them as adults, to improve their mental health and wellbeing to prevent parent: child separation.
It is a complex area of business that requires strong commitment to develop services across the partnership landscape. Therefore, this tender lays out the need to commission a one-off piece of work to seek a provider who can undertake the following, on behalf of statutory partners across Cwm Taf Morgannwg, including:
1. To map current provision and gaps across CTM and collate evidence of good practice in supporting parents well-being with complex emotional needs, availability of specialist parental emotional/mental health and therapeutic support, both regionally and nationally.
2. To make recommendations and define a robust approach to meeting need, that could increase parental well-being and ultimately support less children being separated from their parents in the long term.
