Description of the goods or services required

Brymbo Heritage Trust is seeking the services of an Interpretation Designer to a) support its development of a Second Round Heritage Lottery Fund submission by September 2019, and b), subject to the success of that submission, support its implementation from early 2020.

A comprehensive overview of the project is contained in the Invitation to Tender, along with a series of background documents.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The contract relates to an anticipated exhibition & interpretation capital/installation budget of approximately £450,000. This will be applied to a diverse range of indoor, outdoor, spatially disparate, static, audio-visual, graphic, interactive, virtual and/or augmented reality approaches relating to natural history, industrial heritage and social history relating to the former Brymbo Iron and Steelworks site near Wrexham.

The services required are in two parts, the first of which (October 2018 to September 2019) carries a fixed fee of £18,000; the second part (early 2020 onwards) is to be competitively priced.

Bidders must be able to demonstrate experience of working with Heritage Lottery Funded projects of comparable scale and complexity.

Relates to the following project/programme financed by EU Community Funds: The total financial scale of the Brymbo Heritage Area and its associated projects is approximately £10m over the period 2017 to 2024. A temporary building to cover section of the 300 million year old Brymbo Fossil Forest is being funded by the Rural Community Development Fund to a value of £128,000.
