Abstract

Introduction Wrexham County Borough Council are conducting a market engagement process for the running of a café facility at Wrexham Council’s Wellbeing Hub. The Café will occupy the Ground Floor of Crown Buildings 31 Chester Street Wrexham LL13 8BG. The newly refurbished Wellbeing Hub has been established to realise a long term strategy of improving the health and wellbeing of the population of Wrexham in partnership with the Association of Voluntary Sector Organisations of Wrexham, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Wrexham County Borough Council. The Café facility will service all user groups within the Hub on a daily basis, it could also provide additional opportunities for business through catering and delivery services. The designated café area occupies the following floor space within the Wellbeing Hub facility. Air-conditioned Wellbeing Hub kitchen Floor Space Square metres Area of kitchen 20 Area of seated dining area 70.3 Total area 90.3 The Café will provide seating for 24 covers in addition to any take away services. There is also a discreet feeding zone for customers who may require additional privacy. The Café area includes a Child Friendly soft play area and the use of 3 Highchairs. Available Appliances in the Wellbeing Hub Kitchen are; Appliance Brand Cast iron griddle grill Milantoast Countertop single hob Vollrath 2 Coolers- in built countertop Ebor Coffee Maker and Milk dispenser Bravilor Bonamat Dishwasher Classeq 5 Fridges/1 freezers (various sizes) Blizzard Microwave Oven Blizzard 3 Sinks (2 commercial size, 1 handwashing) Ebor Soup Kettle Buffalo Toaster Lincat Waterboiler Lincat ** It should be noted that the Kitchen facilities do not currently include a commercial cooker.** In order to upgrade the site to include this and upgrade wiring and fire safety compliance in accordance with the regulations we have been given an indication of costs in the region of £30,000. Comments and observations with regard to this would be welcome. We are seeking a tenant partner to operate the café in a way that complements the Wellbeing Hub Partnership and social value principles and welcome your response to the following key requirements; We are interested in a solution that could provide most, if not all of the following; • Providing good service and customer care • Providing high quality food and drink using local food produce where available. • Work towards a community and customer led provision e.g. dementia friendly status • Organic, Fair Trade and Healthy Eating Options must be considered where appropriate • Use of recycled and sustainable packaging where applicable • Clean and well managed facilities • Adhere to high quality and recognised industry standards including high hygiene standards • Good promotion activities to the local and wider area • Enabling opportunities for volunteering, work experience and training to a minimum of five people who may not have access through the regular channels • Services: The property is connected to mains water, mains sewerage, electricity and gas. The utilities will be a proportion charge in relation to the floorspace that is occupied. As the building is new and the facility has not yet received a bill any figures provided would be estimates only.
