Description of the goods or services required
The Elan Links scheme, is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person or persons to develop a soft cover book celebrating the achievements of the past 6 years of project delivery and consolidating all the research and reports produced over the last 6 years for the Elan Links: People, Nature & Water landscape partnership. The contract is for a period of 5 months, commencing in October 2023.
The successful applicant/s will have a strong track record in this type of work.
This contract will deliver the following
1. In depth engagement with the project to understand the reports and research produced over the last 6 years then writing/commissioning texts and sourcing/commissioning images to reflect outputs and achievements
2. Coordination of contributors who may/will provide text and imagery
3. Editing, layout, graphic design and print ready proofs
The final product to be delivered will be a print ready proof that brings together all of the outputs the Elan Links landscape partnership has worked towards over the last 6 years. In essence the point of the book will be to look at the work produced over the lifetime of the project and demonstrate the links between them. For example, it is simple to say we have improved habitats but harder to demonstrate the impact / effect this could have on communities or the arts, or to demonstrate changes over time. It is imagined that the book will be visual, informative, understandable, accessible and relatable. The successful tenderer/s will be given full access to all reports, strategies, recorded and written resources, photographs and staff to create a complete picture of the scheme and all its facets.
We envisage that this contract could be delivered in either one or two parts
1. Graphic design and text writing / creation
2. Graphic design or text writing / creation
To this end a tenderer (or consortium) with both skill sets would be the preferred option but text writing / creation or graphic design separately will also be considered.
We expect this document to be bilingual, English/Welsh (translation costs not included in the tender fee and provided separately) and up to 120 pages in length in an A4 format.
The book should consist of a coherent narrative that brings together case studies, vignettes about the project or features of the Elan estate, quotes and stories coupled with graphics, tables and photographs (provided).
All text and graphics should be in accessible language and adhere to our brand guidelines.
The audience for this book will be those who have been involved in the project over the last 6 years and local people and visitors who would like to know more, it should also be a celebration of the work achieved, reflect on the difficulties and challenges and make the links between project elements explicit and come to life.
