Additional information to help you quote

To help contractors quote for the work, here are estimates for the number of structures and the number of machine days required to build them:

1) Number of structures (peat dams in this context): approximately 1206.
2) Number of machine days: estimated 90 machine days total. This figure is given for guidance only; the bidder should base their tender on their own experience and calculations.

If the quote exceeds the amount of money that we have budgeted for the work, we will ask the successful contractor to provide a certain amount of work (not all of it) to use all of our budget; this will be calculated based on the sum quoted for each type of feature (gully/ditch).

Please quote for the length of features assuming that they’re all workable along the entire length given.

Please also provide the number of machine days and estimated time on site required for the work.

For confirmation, you will be paid only for features that you work, as not all features that are mapped will necessarily be workable. Conversely you can be paid for extra features worked, as agreed by both parties during the delivery of the contract, as not all workable features on the site have been mapped.

Payment is made against the length of feature completed.
Lengths are calculated using GIS mapping software, from data provided by the contractor’s drivers who must record each dam that they build on a Field Maps app. We will supply the app and, if required, show the drivers how to use it. App and training are provided free of charge, but please include the cost of your staff’s time (half a day) for training within your quote.
