II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The North Wales Medical School (NWMS) will provide an estimated approx. 1932m2 of renovated medical teaching accommodation. The proposed (fabric) works will include new windows and main entrance door, localised slate repairs, curtain walling and external signage. Also, proposed (fit-out) works will include the renovation of toilets, teaching, lecture, tutorial and supporting accommodation to the ground and first floor.
The project ambition is to create a new hub for the NWMS within the Deiniol Building with aims to improve:
- Interdisciplinary teaching and learning across the medical programmes and enhance inter-professional education by creating a more collaborative environment.
- Create an innovative project that will enhance and support the student teaching and learning experience.
- Wellbeing of its users by adapting the existing building to create a stimulating, engaging and supportive working environment.
- Sustainability and performance of the building to meet the necessary internal comfort conditions.
- Assist Bangor University achieve carbon reduction targets and sustainability improvement works.
