Abstract

The National Botanic Garden of Wales has HLF and other funding to undertake the delivery phase of a project to restore the Regency waterpark within the parkland of the Middleton Hall estate. The parkland is included in the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Historic Interest in Wales. In order to further inform the design of the dams to be restored the Garden is seeking geotechnical investigations, comprising boreholes on the dams and in field locations where the project hopes to win clay for dam construction. This is a civil engineering project which includes the repair and reconstruction of a number of historic dams, the restoration of historic reservoirs and construction of new pedestrian bridges. Programme is pressing and correspondingly we are providing an initial notification of the pending tender. The ambition is to have the site works commencing in late August 2017.
