Description of the goods or services required
Contract for Birdproofing measures at Swansea City Bus Station to be completed in February 2022
Specification
Bird proofing / Bird Control Measures
Swansea City Bus Station is in a prime, coastal location and there are problems with pigeons and seagulls. Pigeons are making their way into the Bus Station and are roosting above the ceiling panels within the main concourse and the coaching area. This is resulting in debris and bird faeces collecting and falling into the passenger waiting areas below. There are also health and safety risks and potential damage to wiring and ducting.
Bird proofing measures such as netting are therefore required to prevent birds gaining access to the space above the ceiling panels. This will be required above the main bus station concourse and also the coaching area. The entrance lobby has had netting installed previously
The Contractor will be required to undertake the cleaning and removal of debris in the roof space prior the implementation of the bird control measures.
No materials or methods shall be used by the Contractor, that may cause the surfaces to be scratched, or cause damage to the paintwork or bus station structure. If a cherry picker (or similar) is to be used then the tiled floor of the Bus Station will need to be protected.
Work must only be undertaken when the bus station is closed to the public. Bus station opening hours are 5.30am to 11pm daily
