Abstract

The NHS Wales Health Collaborative works on behalf of NHS Wales and in support of Welsh Government. The Collaborative help to plan, shape and make recommendations on NHS services across Wales and its teams cover a broad range of clinical networks, national programmes and projects, major conditions implementation groups, and support functions. The majority of the Collaborative’s work plan comprises the priorities agreed through clinical network boards, major conditions implementation groups and national programme boards, with the Save a Life Cymru being one. The NHS in Wales can avail itself of public sector frameworks and contracts with various suppliers for the purchase of defibrillators and cabinets at pre-determined costs however, these are not available to the wider community. In view of the range of defibrillators and cabinets available on the market and disparity of costs, it has resulted in an initiative with the SaLC, acting on behalf of the Welsh community, to facilitate the procurement of an arrangement that is available for community organisation, charities, etc., to access for the purchase of their defibrillator and cabinet requirements. The process will require interested suppliers to submit the costs of their semi-automatic defibrillators, associated consumables, and cabinets (where appropriate) and as part of this process, commitment is sought from suppliers that they will supply these products to the Welsh community at pre-agreed costs, for the duration of the agreement.
