Title
Supply & installation of a decanting centrifuge
|
2.2
|
Description of the goods or services required
The Sustainable Environment Research Centre (SERC) at the University of South Wales is seeking to procure a decanter centrifuge for 2 phase separation (solid-liquid separation) as part of the ‘VFA Factory’ – project number USW263, funded by Sêr Cymru II – WEFO ERDF Programme 80761.
The project aims to utilise organic waste streams as feedstock for the production of high value, green and renewable volatile fatty acids (VFAs). These VFAs are platform chemicals and can pave way for the production of a range of green chemicals (end products) of interest to various sectors including cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical and energy sectors.
The decanter will be part of a pilot plant that will be set up within the Sustainable Environment Research Centre at USW. Specifically, the decanter should be able to handle typical slurry inflow rates of 4-10 L/h (maximum flow rates < 100 L/h) with typical solids concentration of 5 wt%.
