Description of the goods or services required
Cardiff University is currently undertaking works to provide a new data centre at 40 Park Place, Cardiff. This datacentre, once set to work will replace the existing data centre at the same address.
The data centre is one of two main data centres which host the main servers for the entire campus covering all Cardiff University sites including all existing teaching facilities, research facilities and halls of residences around the city including those at UHW and other remote sites. Essentially, these critical data centres are the beating heart of the University overall and any loss of service would be catastrophic. The data centres also contain equipment of highly significant monetary and intellectual value. The data centre installation itself will be by a directly appointed Turnkey contractor, now known to be Keysource ltd.
Within the contract of works detailed within this contract, works shall entail the successful replacement of the existing switchboard and associated sections. The new switchboard will serve all sub main supplies as existing along with the new data centre. It should be noted that the existing data centre will remain operational until the new centre is complete, whereby a phased changeover will be set to work.
